It was a dream that was years in the making – that almost got derailed.
“I’ve always been inspired by the contemporary dance scenes on So You Think You Can Dance,” said Inka Winter, founder of feminist porn studio ForPlay Films. “The full range of emotions they express, all without a single word. Emotions are a great opening for sex, so it seemed like a natural match. I wanted to find out – what would happen if a modern dance turned into something more?”
But Inka knew she couldn’t do it without the right team – and that team seemed hopelessly out of reach. She needed two adult performers with advanced dance skills, great chemistry, and emotional vulnerability. Not to mention an actual ballet dance choreographer!
“I had the concept and the ‘feeling’ of what I wanted – a couple who’s deeply in love, and going through a fight, until they finally reconnect – but I knew I needed some high-level experts to help bring it to life,” said Inka.
It was only when she met renowned ballet dancer and choreographer “Chase Motion” (alias used for privacy) at a holiday party that things started clicking into place.
“I mentioned my dream to this brilliant ballet dancer, and they were super intrigued, even though they’d never even considered collaborating on adult content before,” said Inka. “That was when I decided to finally make my dream a reality.”
Chase Motion quickly went to work, starting to plan the choreography. “Creating such a unique choreography was definitely new to me. It was great to experience working with (these adult industry) artists and truly see that art has no limits,” he said.
Meanwhile, Inka put out a ForPlay Films casting call on the site formerly known as Twitter. Korean-American Kimmy Kim was soon cast as the scene’s female talent. With over a decade of dance training, including hip hop and ballet and contemporary, she was a natural fit. Plus her sweetness and emotional connection with the material brought the sense of vulnerability that Inka knew she needed.
“Both good partnered dancing and good sex is always about connecting, and expressing a shared emotion, a shared story,” said Inka.
The male talent proved a little trickier. As always, Inka prioritized chemistry and safety, and wanted Kimmy to have the final word on who she shared the scene with. But unexpected circumstances meant a sudden talent switch-up with very short notice, just before the original shoot date.
“These things happen in the business – but this time, with how demanding the scene is, I didn’t know if we’d have to cancel the whole thing,” Inka said. “It was touch-and-go. Even if we could find someone that Kimmy trusted, that was also a dancer, how can you ask someone new to learn a whole choreography so fast?”
Thankfully, Kimmy suggested a dark horse collaborator she loved working with. And it turned out, Inka also knew him well. Nathan Bronson, from ForPlay Films projects Parkour XXX, Valentine au Derriere, and Murder Mystery parts 1 and 2.
“He’s always been our funny guy, our slightly-cheeky bad-boy turned boyfriend-of-our-dreams.” Said Inka. “We’d never done something this emotional or raw together before. But he’s an absolute dream to work with – easy-going, a great listener, always putting the female talent first. And although he wasn’t a dancer, I knew he was an incredible athlete from filming Parkour XXX with him. So I crossed all my fingers!”
Inka reached out. Always game for a new adventure, Nathan said yes. The now-complete team decided to postpone the shoot by one month to give the couple more time to rehearse, and to make sure they got the lifts and trickier moves safely practiced.
“I’m not a dancer, and it was so much fun to get to learn how to move with Kimmy, and really try to bring a different kind of performance to the adult industry that I’ve never done,” said Nathan Bronson.
In fact, Nathan was so committed to keeping his partner safe – and doing justice to the gorgeous choreography – that he also practiced solo over the next few weeks. To help him, Chase Motion and Kimmy recorded themselves doing the routine, and sent the clip as a reference.
“Thank goodness for everyone’s teamwork, but also Nathan’s dedication, athleticism, and his incredible parkour and stunt skills.” Said Inka. “It made everything possible! But more important than that was the chemistry and trust between him and Kimmy. Because together, they bring the heart to the story. And that’s what brings the dance, and the sex, to life.”
The new shoot day finally arrived, and everyone was ready. A frustrating location change meant yet another series of adjustments had to be made. But the team pushed through despite it all. And like the story that Kimmy Kim and Nathan Bronson tell with their bodies, and their hearts, the struggle was worth it in the end. Every obstacle and every challenge just made their connection, and the story, stronger.
“This project was a project of passion on all sides. We all showed up because we wanted to, and it shows!” Kimmy Kim said. “It also truly reignited my love for dance too.“
Nathan agreed. “This was a really interesting project… I was so happy to be a part of it. Inka did an amazing job as a Director and Kimmy crushed this. I hope everyone enjoys!”
And how does Inka feel, after years of dreaming finally became a reality?
“I’m so proud of what we created together, Chase, Kimmy, Nathan, and the whole ForPlay films team. They were all incredible. Bodies Unbound is truly beautiful, a work of art. I hope it brings others as much joy as it ultimately brought us, even through the hardest of times.”
